Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of SafeOCR (the “Service”), operated by the SafeOCR Team. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

The Service

SafeOCR provides free, browser-based optical character recognition (OCR) tools that process images, screenshots, and PDF documents entirely on your own device. We do not require an account to use the Service.

Free, as-is service

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any text recognized by the Service — OCR output can contain errors, and you are responsible for reviewing and verifying any extracted text before relying on it.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Process content you do not have the legal right to process (for example, material that infringes another party’s intellectual property or violates a confidentiality obligation);
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service beyond what is permitted by applicable open-source licenses;
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable local, state, national, or international law.

Intellectual property

The SafeOCR name, logo, and site design are the property of the SafeOCR Team. The underlying OCR engine is built on third-party open-source components (including PaddleOCR and onnxruntime-web), each governed by its own respective license. You retain all rights to the content you process through the Service; we claim no ownership over your images or the text extracted from them, and — as described in our Privacy Policy — we never see that content in the first place.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the SafeOCR Team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service.

Changes to the Service or these Terms

We may modify or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; the “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the SafeOCR Team is based. We are not naming a specific country or state here because the Team’s legal structure is still evolving; if you need that detail for a specific dispute or legal filing, email us and we will confirm it in writing. Regardless of this clause, nothing here limits any consumer-protection rights you are entitled to under the law that otherwise applies to you.
